Josh Gordan has announced that he is leaving the New England Patriots, saying he needs to focus on his health. After missing NFL seasons 2015 and 2016 over substance abuse issues, it looks like Josh has failed another drug test. An NFL spokesman says that Gordan violated the League’s substance abuse policy, and has opened himself up to a possible suspension. The Patriots issued a statement saying “We support Josh Gordan in his continued efforts to focus on his health”.
The playoffs are just around the corner and Josh Gordan, a superstar, won’t be in the ranks. The Patriots are a strong team, and one man won’t break them, but this is really bad news for Josh Gordan, as it demonstrates the liability that comes with signing a guy with his issues. For now, his big comeback is over, but he is only 27 and there’s still more life to his NFL career. Let’s hope he gets it together – good luck Josh.
