Travis Scott finally speaks his piece on the tension filled situation with his soon to be brother-in-law, Kanye West. In an interview with Rolling Stone for the January cover issue, Travis is obviously conflicted about how to handle his relationship with Kanye. It seems he’s trying, carefully, to thread the needle.
When asked how he feels about Kanye West’s strange political views and support of Donald Trump, Travis says this…
“I don’t know, bro,” It’s a delicate topic. “I mean, shit, I’d tell him, ‘Bro, chill. What you gotta understand is, young black kids are looking up to you, and the message you used to preach in your earlier music? It’ll make a young black kid — it’ll make any kid — confused.’ That shit was — come on. But when Ye get on some shit, he on some shit. I don’t know if that nigga just liked the hat or what, dog”.
He also said this…
“I’ve told him, ‘Man, you got kids looking up to you, feel me?’ ”
When you consider that Kanye is actually responsible for originally signing Travis and putting him on the world stage, this kind of cautious speech makes sense – you have to respect his approach. This is the biggest year in Travis’ life. He needs to keep his eye on the stage – spit fire and get paid. This situation seems to drip every day – we’ll keep watching.
