Bobby Brown has signed on to play soul singer Rufus Thomas on the upcoming new BET series, “American Soul”. Rufus Thomas was known for his classic hit “Do The Funky Chicken”. In addition to Bobby Brown, Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams has agreed to portray Diana Ross. The show is said to be about the life of “Soul Train” creator, Don Cornelius.
The show will be produced by the same team that produced “The Bobby Brown Story” and “The New Edition Story”. It will feature both true and fictional accounts to detail the rise in popularity of the legendary show. At the moment, “American Soul” is set to begin airing on BET in February. We wish the R&B legend the best of luck, and we’ll be tuning in. Until the next time this situation drips…Peace!
