On CBS This Morning the world learned that Missy Elliott would become the first female Hip Hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by Hall of Fame Chairman, Nile Rogers.
This is an amazing accomplishment when you consider that there are only two other rappers in the Songwriters Hall of Fame at all. One of those inductees is Jay Z, who was embraced in 2016. 40 years of Hip Hop music, and 20 years of Hip Hop dominance, yet Missy Elliot is the first woman.
For her part, Missy left us all a very gracious Twitter message…
The Hall of Fame will host it’s 50th Annual Induction Awards Dinner this coming June. Missy will be joined by the likes of Dallas Austin and Cat Stevens, to name a few.
Congratulations to Missy Elliot on all her wonderful success! We’ll be watching for anything else that drips from this great story. Until next time…
