ICE says 21 Savage is lying to the public about his background. On CNN, an ICE agent stated, “His whole public persona is false. He actually came to the U.S. from the U.K. as a teen and over-stayed his visa.”
Most of his fans have been led to believe he’s from Atlanta, with a reference to his mother being of Dominican descent. In reality, he’s actually from the London Borough of Newham, United Kingdom. However, he has been here since he was 12 or 13 years old, which leaves lots of room for the tales in his music that have captivated millions, to actually be true… but who knows.
In a dramatic turn, his legal team has abandoned the polite contrition of yesterday and adopted a much more aggressive tone, bashing ICE and the US government for detaining their client. Today they claim that 21 Savage actually applied to remain a legal resident way back in 2017, and the case is still pending. They accuse ICE of grand standing on their well known client, and abusing the power of the government.
