Gucci has stumbled into serious hot water over racist fashion deemed as blackface imagery. As you can see, this a black sweater that pulls up over the nose and prominently features bright red around the lip area, very similar to some of the most well known racist imagery in American history.
The black community along with several notable African American celebrities have voiced uproarious objection, and many are calling for a boycott. Movie producer Spike Lee has spoken out by saying he will no longer wear “Prada or Gucci until they hire some black designers.” Here’s the whole statement…

For their part, Gucci has apologized, but offered no explanation as to how this kind of racist symbolism found its way into their clothing line. It leads us all to believe that they’re simply hiring a bunch of racists to design their products.
