R. Kelly had a court hearing today, and though he wasn’t actually present, his lawyers filed an important request on his behalf.
Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, asked the judge for all communication between attorney Michael Avenatti and State’s Attorney, Kim Foxx. As you you all know, Avenatti brought two new alleged R. Kelly sextapes to the attention of Kim Foxx’s office, which now support this new round of charges against the legendary singer.
With Michael Avenatti now being charged by federal authorities with allegedly extorting the Nike company, R. Kelly’s team wants to see whether he put any undue pressure on State’s Attorney, Kim Foxx.
TMZ previously reported that attorney Greenberg would ask the judge to allow R. Kelly to travel to Dubai, but after the Dubai government insisted the singer had no business in their country, that request seems to have fallen from importance and was not made today.
For now, the next court date is scheduled for May 7th, where these issues will be decided.
