The next court date for young rapper and rising star YNW Melly isn’t until Thursday, but reports are the State of Florida wants his life.
Melly’s lawyer, Jason Williams, told Billboard that “since the beginning of this case,” prosecutors have had the death penalty in mind for the rapper and his alleged co-conspirator, YNW Bortlet.
TMZ was the first to report the State’s intentions on the death penalty against Melly, but it should be noted that more than half of the country, some 30 states, share the “eye for an eye” styled judicial philosophy.
YNW Melly and YNW Bortlet stand accused of premeditated murder of two of their own crew members, with point-blank gun blasts in the close quarters of a vehicle. Allegedly, they then covered up their heinous acts with an elaborate lie, staging the bloodied bodies of the two men, all for money.
