Singer R. Kelly recently suffered a loss in a sexual abuse case brought by a woman named Heather Williams in civil court.
She claimed the singer sexually abused her when she was only 16 years old. Apparently R. Kelly didn’t show up to a scheduled court hearing and lost by default judgment.
Now it appears the infamous R&B singer is making up excuses for his failure to show up to court. Through his lawyer, R. Kelly now says he was “overwhelmed by the experience of being in jail.” Therefore he’d like a do-over in the next court hearing.
R. Kelly was apparently served with papers about the lawsuit while he sat in jail on a child support case, and they think that was unfair. Pretty sure all the other guys that get served in jail consider it a bother as well, but that excuse probably wouldn’t work for them.
This is a civil case, and of course has nothing to do with the 10 counts of sex abuse the singer is currently facing in criminal court. Still, we’ll watch what happens and let you know if R. Kelly gets the break he’s asking for.
Until the next time it drips….
