JAY Z & TIMBALAND ARE BEING SUED OVER A SAMPLE

Soul singer Ernie Hines has been wronged and he’s come to set the record straight. In court documents he claims that Hip Hop royalty Jay Z & legendary producer Timbaland stole samples of his 1969 track called “Help Me Put Out the Flame (In My Heart).”

Ernie Hines claims that Jay Z used his sample on a song called “Paper Chase,” on his classic album, Vol. 2 Hard Knock Life, way back in 1998. The song was produced by Timbaland. Ernie also says Timbaland used his jam again on the 100% Ginuwine album the next year, and that album peaked at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 – no permission given for either one.

Earnie says he’s going to need $2 million for the trouble. As for why he waited so long to assert his rights… he says he’s just old, and he doesn’t listen to Hip Hop. When you think about it, that makes sense.

We’ll keep an eye on the case for you, and when a judge speaks, we’ll let you know.

Until the next time it drips…
