There was a frightening turn of events at the big street parade in Toronto for the Raptors NBA Finals win. Four people were shot and seriously injured in the crowd of an estimated 1.5 million Raptors fans. Toronto police arrested three alleged gunmen after the shots rang out. For a time, there was panic and a real threat of stampede, but the announcer, Matt Devlin, was able to calm the crowd and assure attendees that police had control of the situation. When the police matter was wrapped up, organizers moved right on with their program.
Rapper Drake, who has been a huge partner to the Raptor franchise and a real inspiration to the players, took the microphone after the incident to encourage the crowd toward positivity and love with a massive group hug.
