NHL star Evander Kane just got what he wanted against the woman suing him for $6 million. A judge in the case told her to reveal her name if she wanted to move forward with her lawsuit, and she did just that. TMZ reported her name is Hope Parker, and she’s vowed to refile all documents in the case with her name revealed.
Apparently, she and the San Jose Sharks star, Kane, were in an on and off relationship from 2015 – 2018. During that time, Parker claims to have had three abortions. No details as to who the father of the first two was, after all, they were on and off in their relationship. With the third abortion though, Parker is sure the child would have been Kane’s, and she also says she did not want to abort the fetus. However, after Kane promised to pay her a whopping $3 million to get rid of the kid, she agreed.
Parker says the trouble started when it became clear that Kane had no plans of actually coughing up the dough, so she sued. If Kane thought he would shame her into dropping the lawsuit over naming herself, he was dead wrong. Kane’s going to have to come up with a plausible reason why he doesn’t owe her the money, since he’s not really denying that the twisted pact between them existed.
With the abortion debate going on right now, and a wave of conservative state legislatures rolling back protections of Roe vs. Wade, this subject matter is a pretty hot topic. This sort of case would seem to play right into the fear many people have about the objectification and needless aborting of unborn children, especially when money is put into the mix.
It will be interesting to see where the case goes from here. We’ll follow every step and keep you plugged in. Until the next time it drips…
