R. Kelly was arrested last night by an array of law enforcement officials from Homeland Security to Chicago beat cops… this time, on a 13-count federal indictment on child pornography and enticement of a minor. The charges were brought by the federal prosecutor’s office in the Northern District of Illinois, setting in motion a much more serious round of federal indictments that could put Chicago’s enemy number one, R. Kelly, behind bars for the rest of his natural life.
Today the Eastern District of New York federal prosecutor’s office also indicated R. Kelly on 5 charges aimed at taking down corrupt organizations. They hit R. Kelly with 5 counts, ranging from racketeering to several violations of the Mann Act. The “Bump and Grind” singer and his crew are accused of coercing minors for the purposes of having sex on camera.
TMZ is reporting court documents say that “Kelly and his crew traveled throughout the United States and abroad to recruit these women and girls.” Prosecutors also contend R. Kelly and his team transported girls across state lines for the purpose of sex, which is a clear violation of the Mann Act. In addition, they say R. Kelly ran an organized effort to force labor from the girls that came to live with him, confined them to their rooms, and wouldn’t let them see their parents.
All told, the R&B legend is now facing 18 federal counts – 13 from Chicago federal prosecutors, and 5 counts in New York City. R. Kelly has had a hard time coming up with bail from multiple arrests from charges out of Cook County prosecutors and child support arrests from dustups with his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly. He must be exhausted by now. By most accounts, the singer is definitely out of money. For now, he sits in a federal prison trying to figure out his next move.
Until the next time it drips…
