It took a while, but fellow billion dollar business mogul and friend, Sean Combs, came to Jay Z’s defense concerning his announcement of new business with Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL. In a lengthy Instagram post, Diddy sided with Jay Z and his approach to handling the NFL protest… that is, calling for an end to the protest once he secured himself and his businesses several enormously profitable and groundbreaking business deals.
For the record, that’s not how “successful” protests work, ending with a lucrative deal for one of its peripheral leaders…. that’s not how any of this works.
However, in his post Diddy says he was sitting back and watching the debate, but wanted folks to know…
“He(Jay Z) has always has been so selfless and fights for other people. We as a people can not be divided and conquered at this time!!”
Diddy also said he continues to support Colin Kaepernick in every way possible, and that it’s not about the NFL, but about how black and brown people are treated accross the country. Diddy then parroted Jay Z’s verbage stating that now’s the time for action, when it comes to the cause. However, neither one of them has yet to expain how a huge business deal for one man does anything for the plight of black and brown people accross the nation.
Lots of folks in the Hip Hop community are coming around to Jay Z’s methods, not Just Diddy. Rapper TI logged his support for Jay Z days ago, and TI’s been one of Colin Kaepernick’s most vocal supporters in his fight with the NFL over his kneeling for social justice protests. It should not go unnoticed, Kaep continues to cheer on those NFLers during the ongoing pre-season that have continued to take the knee.
Jay Z is no doubt hoping the bad press will calm down soon, and it probably will. After all, it’s 2019, they say 30 is the new 20, and unbridled greed is definitely now a virtue.
We’ll keep you plugged into what comes next with this situation for sure. Until the next time it drips….
