DRAKE BOOED OFF STAGE BY INDIE MUSIC FANS

The biggest music act in the world right now, Drake – Champagne Papi himself, was booed off stage by an aggressive and hostile Alternative Hip Hop music crowd in Los Angeles last night. Drake popped up at the event, a music festival called Camp Flog Gnaw, as a suprise guest of fellow artist and event producer Tyler, the Creator. However the suprise was on them, and it turned into an embarrassing scene for Drake of course, but also for Tyler, The Creator – it was his festival.

He offered a tongue lashing on Twitter today for the rowdy concert goers, saying…

“I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE F**KING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE! BUT FLIPSIDE, A LIL TONE DEAF KNOWING THE SPECIFIC CROWD IT DREW.”

He added, “SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE ASS***** WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT F*** WITH THAT.”

Last night Drake came out on stage, grabbed the mic, and started to run down his routine. It’s clear he expected a thunderous wave of love to come back from the audience, but no… Instead they just chilled, as if to purposely and in unison, dis the “Fake Love” rapper. Wow, the irony in those hip hop lyrics. When it became obvious to the crowd that Drake, the biggest star in the world, was annoyed with them, they started getting loud on the guy, actively ignoring him, and then the booing began.

Drake turned and said to them straight up, “If you wanna keep going, I will keep going tonight?” Their response? “Nooooo… We want Frank(Ocean)!” With that, Drake turned and said… “It’s been love. I go by the name of Drake,” and walked off the stage – tail tucked and licking his wounds. This little episode is likely to be a humbling experience for brother Drake.

Camp Flog Gnaw was mostly about the Indie music scene and alternative Hip Hop and R&B, hence the yearning for Frank Ocean. Frank was also the first rapper to shock us with the bold declaration that he was gay – he does have a beloved place with these fans. Still there were a few other mainstream acts on stage over the weekend; there’s room for all in the music industry, and there have always been enough music lovers to go around. It just seems the crowd last night was a bit over literal when it came to what kind of musicians they expected to see, and maybe Champagne Papi has grown a little too proud.

Drake will be fine though, we’re sure of it. The bag of money he left with will definitely make it all better. Until the next time it drips…
