Rapper T.I. had a lot of explaining to do today on Jada Pinkett’s Red Table Talk. You’ll remember a couple weeks ago T.I. made the assertion that he hangs around at his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah’s gynecological visits just to check if her hymen is still intact. The “Whatever You Like” rhymer made the comments on a podcast called “Ladies Like Us,” hosted by Nadia and Nazanin, the later being the wife of R&B singer Miguel.
T.I. says he actually made the comments in a joking moment and admits he embellished, just a little bit…
“From a place of truth, I began to embellish and exaggerate, and I think that a lot of people took it extremely literal. Because if you put any of my reputation… about who I am as a father and who I’ve been, I honestly thought people knew me better than that.”
He also clears up the specifics like, he only accompanied Deyjah a couple of times at ages 15 and 16. He doesn’t go with her now as an adult. He also says Deyjah’s mother was present each time, and he swears he never sat in on any examinations…. well that’s a relief.
Though Jada and her mother, Adrienne, continued with the hard questions, T.I. insisted he would still do whatever he could to protect his daughter, though he admits he had to apologize to Deyjah sincerely for putting her business out there like that.
As for Nazanin and Nadia, the whole episode turned into such a hot potato that they had to issue an apology and eventually pulled T.I.’s segment from the lineup. The ladies kinda laughed when he made the remarks, but their fans would not suffer one day of it, so it was yanked. But again as T.I. said, they were joking around at the time. So the whole thing is over, no harm no foul, right? Only time will tell – until the next time it drips…
