The NFL is wrapped in another full-throated investigation of the New England Patriots for spying – this time on the Cincinnati Bengals during last weekend’s game. There was a New England Patriots’ camera crew caught filming the Bengals’ sideline operations at Progressive Field, which is a violation of NFL policy.
They were supposed to be simply filming an advanced scout doing his job for a Patriots web-series called, Do Your Job. The film crew was confronted and NFL on Fox reporter Jay Glazer has it all on tape…
When they ran the tape back, apparently there was no advanced scout action going on, just the Bengals’ on field and sideline operations. A Bengals security officer is heard saying, “Yeah? C’mon guys! I don’t see the advanced scout in this footage!”
A guy named David Mondillo, Supervising Producer of Kraft Sports and Entertainment, has already been suspended for his role in the incident – he was there that day. When Mondillo’s crew asked if they should they delete the footage, a Bengals security guy told them, “The damage is done, my friend.”
For good reference, Jay Glazer, the reporter who brought us the tape, is the same reporter that broke the New England Patriots first Spygate drama back in 2007. That cheating conspiracy cost the Patriots a reported $250,000 and Bill Belichick $500,000. They were just so guilty, and it also cost them a first round draft pick. It’s absolutely cringeworthy that the Patriots organization is in this position again.
Tom Brady insists the video was not used to whoop Bengal butt on Sunday. David Mondillo has offered a well crafted apology. But Bill Belichick still doesn’t even know what the hell we’re all talking about.
