Legendary singer and businessman, Akon, has shocked the Hip Hop world with the announcement of “Akon City,” Senegal. He dropped a post a short time ago, January 13th, declaring there has been an agreement, with a picture of himself and some state officials.

The caption read… “Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.” The “Locked Up” singer is American-born, but his parents are from Senegal. At some point as a child, Akon moved back to Senegal with his parents to live.
Though he eventually came back to the states and got a Clark Atlanta University education, Africa has always been the singer’s true calling. Akon made his first groundbreaking move for the people of Africa back in 2014 with a project that would eventually bring light to 15 African countries using solar power.
Recently spending New Year’s Eve on the beach in Accra, Ghana with some celebrity friends, the West African giant is getting another chance to prove his worth to the continent. It’s going to be exciting to see Akon’s plans for “Akon City” come to life. Until the next time it drips…
