Last night Dababy released a list of big named artists that will appear on his third studio album, Blame it on Baby, dropping this Friday. The names include Future, Roddy Ricch, Quavo, Megan Thee Stallion, NBA Youngboy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and R&B diva Ashanti. It’s not clear if the list includes all, or just the A-list talent, but it’s clear Dababy wants fans to know he’s pulling out all the stops to entertain them. Blame it on Baby is bound to keep the hits coming.
Dababy also dropped a teaser with the album’s concept saying, “in any type of accident, at any point in your life, and suffered physical or emotional injuries of any kind?” He wants you to know, you can “Blame it on Baby.”
The album is obviously a reflection of how the artist has been feeling lately after getting himself into a series of incidents and physical altercations, most of which were caught on tape. The “BOP” has been accused of assault and robbery, and was also seen slapping a woman on video. Of course, the most serious incident was back in 2018, where a teenager was actually killed. Dababy said it was all self-defense.
Blame it on Baby seems to be more of an attempt to play up his troubles with the law than to run from them. The Charlotte rhymer wants to turn his weakness into another streaming success. Dababy’s big pivot starts tonight at midnight with his new album on all platforms. Until the next time it drips…
