A lot of Billboard history is being made this week with Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj’s “Say So” Remix nabbing the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. An extra added dose of history comes with it because Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce’s “Savage” Remix pulled right behind it at #2 on the chart.

Young Money Records says this is the first time two female rappers have been number one on Billboard’s Hot 100. Throw in the “Savage” Remix and it marks the first time ever four black females held the top two spots on the chart. Believe or not, this is Nicki Minaj’s first ever Hot 100 #1 hit. Of course, it’s also the first for Doja Cat, but she’s only two major releases into her career at this point.

Nicki Minaj released a statement thanking her fans, saying in part… “You’ll never inderstand how much you uplift me with the overwhelming love and support you continue to show.”

We’re also told the milestone now makes Nicki Minaj the first artist in history to have a #1 on every Billboard chart. If true, this is a truly amazing accomplishment that will likely stand a long time.

A big Congratulations should also go to the executive producers of both these projects as well. It can’t be simple coincidence, the pairing of these two long time international superstars in the same week with two hot new female baddies lighting up the charts. There’s no way to really know whose idea it was first, but it was definitely collective genius for both camps to strike while the iron was hot.

Looking down the road a bit, holding number one will likely be short lived since world famous snitch, Tekashi69, looks poised to take #1 with his new single, “BOOBA.” But for now, let the good times roll for Nicki and the rest of the ladies on an historic week for the charts. Until the next time it drips…
