The bad news was confirmed to Cleveland Browns fans this morning by NFL reporter Josina Anderson. She told the fans, “Odell Beckham Jr. just texted me that his ACL is torn and that his season is over.”
What happened? Early in the first quarter of yesterday’s game between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Baker Mayfield tossed to Odell on the Browns’ second offensive play of the game. The ball got away from Mayfield and was intercepted, so Odell Beckham tried to make a tackle, but he only ended up running into another Browns player, hurting himself. Odell never made a return.
The sports world is now hedging its bets with news that Odell Beckham won’t be back until 2021. At 5-2, the Browns were starting to look good in their division, but now, who knows.
Odell is only 27 years old, but an ACL injury can be tricky and could take up to a full nine months to heal for the NFL household name. He will also probably need surgery. Odell’s teammates and NFL friends have started to post encouraging messages online, telling the football star to keep his head up, and we will too. Get well soon Odell Beckham.
Until the next time it drips….
