Young singer/rapper YK Osiris took to Instagram to share some of the knowledge he’s gained thus far in his short but successful run in the Hip Hop industry. It seems the first thing Osiris wants new artists to know is that you have to fake it to make it in the music game. He told his followers…

“You gotta pretend, you gotta fake… you gotta know how to act. The people that you look up to, them big top artists that you look up to… they know how to act. They know to pretend, they know how to, you know… fake.”

The “I’m Next” singer is signed to Def Jam Recordings and is hard at work on only his second studio album. He’s actually starting to release visuals over social media with an “Icy” styled theme. YK Osiris continued…

“There’s gonna be people that you you don’t like that you gone have to like. That you gone have to say… you know… that you gone have to be cool with, to get through that door and handle your business.”

His comments, however, have started a bit of a discussion, getting the attention of big stars like Cardi B. She commented about YK Osiris’ message saying, “True, but it’s hard.” The outspoken “WAP” rapper has also on occasion expressed her disdain for unnamed people orbiting her career who she feels like she has to work with.

Coincidentally, it should be noted that Cardi B is on the eve of only her second major studio release as well, although we all know she’s had an unbelievable streak of worldwide success since the release of 2018’s Invasion of Privacy.

As for YK Osiris, who knows how this news will hit the folks at Def Jam, now that they pretty much know how he feels about his career as an artist. It looks like YK Osiris seems to have learned the basic lesson all adults must learn just to keep a job, any job. Perhaps now he’ll turn the page to start the next lesson in the book of Consequences and Repressions: “How to Maintain a Good Poker Face.”

Until the next time it drips…
