Superstar NBA veteran Kyrie Irving has just stumbled into a massive penalty from the league over his ‘maskless’ ways. The NBA has fined him $50,000 over a party he attended with his family for his sister’s birthday. TMZ Sports reports there was an investigation that found Kyrie violated league safety protocols as relates to COVID-19.
Per NBA guidlines, players cannot attend indoor events exceeding 15 people. After a viral video dropped this week of Kyrie out partying, the NBA wrath came down. All of this comes on the heels of Kyrie also blowing off the team recently for “personal reasons.” Folks are starting to wonder if Kyrie is having serious issues with his circumstance in Brooklyn.
In addition to the $50k, he’ll have to sit out until this Saturday’s game vs the Orlando Magic, which means Kyrie will miss two games, a whopping total of $816,898. The star is currently in a league mandated 5-day quarantine. It has truly been a costly few weeks for the Brooklyn Nets baller since the 2021 season started only a few weeks ago. He was fined $25,000 this season for refusing to speak to the media.
It should be noted, Kyrie will have to pass yet another COVID-19 test on Saturday before he’ll he allowed to take the court. The league is in no mood to play around. Until the next time it drips….
