Donald Trump has gone on a full-tilt pardoning spree on his last full day in office. Word came down overnight he gave a full pardon to rapper Lil Wayne whom we knew was on Trump’s list, and gave rapper Kodak Black his walking papers as well.
You may know Lil Wayne recently plead guilty to a gun charge after an incident at a Miami, Florida airport where he was caught with a loaded handgun in his luggage. He’s a convicted felon so Wayne was looking at a possible 10-year sentence for the offense, but not anymore.
TMZ reported details of Lil Wayne’s pardon with letters of support from people like Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, calling the rapper “trustworthy, kind-hearted and generous.” NFL great Deion Sanders also stood up for Lil Wayne saying…
“A provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker [and] a game changer.”
We’re not sure yet who lobbied for Kodak Black, but his pardon contains a statement detailing a lot of Kodak’s charitable works, “such as providing educational resources to students and families of fallen law enforcement officers and the underprivileged.” It’s true, Kodak Black has managed to do plenty of great charity work from behind bars.
As you know, Kodak has already been in federal lockup for quite some time, originally getting a 46-month sentence in prison for obtaining firearms illegally and lying on a federal application. A hero to many in the rap community, Kodak Black is now coming home.
Well done to the teams of supporters for both these two hip hop kings! Until the next time it drips…
