Rising singer & rapper Coi Leray, 23, and her music industry father, Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, 55, have been causing quite a stir lately. The two are in the middle of a family squabble over song lyrics and Benzino’s reputation as a father, all playing out online.
On Monday, Coi Leray took to Instagram and snapped hard on her dad Benzino, referring to him as “bro” several times and then calling her father “Bit** a** ni99a, Benzino.”
What happened? Coi Leray recently released her most successful song to date, “No More Parties,” piercing through Billboard’s Hot 100 to #32. However her success comes at the expense of her father’s feelings – in the track Leray shared a line that goes…
“My daddy let me down, but I promise you I won’t let up/I wanna say f*ck that man, but that sh*t won’t make me better,”
Not one to stay silent, the former The Source magazine executive hopped on social media to blast his own daughter. In a post showing the two in happier times, Benzino raged, “That line in her song is (cap) My name and rep is very important to me and nobody is going to tarnish that for story line you dig?”
Benzino has also posted a video that’s been going around where he defends himself, detailing how growing up, Coi was always with him and her two brothers. Benzino claims he took care of them both like they were his own. He basically blames Coi’s mom for turning her against him.
Honestly, there’s lots of shots going back and forth between these two at the speed of light. We’ll bring you more on this soon. Until the next time it drips…
