Pop star Dua Lipa has decided to chime in on the controversy over Dababy’s vile anti-gay comments. It happened at the recent Rolling Loud festival.
TMZ reports Dua Lipa said she was “surprised and horrified” by the downright nasty things Dababy said in the middle of his set. You probably know Dua Lipa and the rapper have a huge hit together called “Levitating” (2020).
She went on to say, “I don’t really recognize this as the person I worked with.” Despite their success together, the Future Nostalgia star is trying to escape the blast zone of condemnation being tossed at Dababy.
Dababy wanted the crowd to shine their cellphone lights, but he chose to prompt them in the wrong way. He began a belligerent, nonsensical rant that most saw as incredibly homophobic. Dababy said…
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS or other STDs that’ll make you die in 2-3 weeks… Put a cellphone light in the air. Fellas, if you didn’t suck a n**** d*** in the parking lot… Put your cellphone lights in the air.”
The “Masterpiece” author dropped a video online trying to explain himself, but it appears he just made it worse.
It’s now being reported that clothing company Boohoo is speaking out against Dababy, saying it “condemns the use of homophobic language.” The company also said…
“Diversity and inclusion are part of our core values and we pride ourselves on representing the diverse customers we serve across the globe.”
Dababy has a lucrative endorsement deal with Boohoo, but the company says their relationship is now under review.
Could this be the first of many dominos to fall for Dababy behind the backlash from the incident? Looks like your favorite rapper better come up with some answers fast. Until the next time it drips….
