Rap mogul Post Malone is getting in on the fun. The music star has dropped some major money on the now-trendy NFT wave.
The “Rockstar” singer dropped nearly three quarters of a million dollars on cartoon apes, but it might genuinely be worth it. NFTs, also known as non-fungible tokens, have been shooting to the moon in popularity, as they exist in a world described as online art.
In a new TikTok by MoonPay, Malone is seen purchasing two Bored Apes for 160 ETH total. At the time of the purchase 1 ETH was worth $4,689.03, meaning Post dropped nearly $735,000 on the pair of cartoon ape NFTs. However, Posty’s new purchases are part of a new partnership with MoonPay.
The music video for his new hit “One Right Now” single with The Weeknd starts off with Malone buying a Bored Ape through MoonPay, interestingly enough. So many artists have made purchases recently in the crypto and digital world, so this does not come as a surprise to anybody.
