Ice Cube is speaking out. The West Coast entertainment mogul went to social media to talk about his classic movie series, Friday, and give a little insight on what happened to it.
The iconic series first debuted in 1995, and It propelled both Ice Cube’s acting career along with superstar comedian, Chris Tucker. The comedy stand-out flick was later followed up by sequels, Next Friday and Friday After Next.
However, Tucker and the big box-office numbers the original made were absent from the sequels. Uce Cube recently tweeted out about why his pal wasn’t in the follow-up films, explaining what happened.
“We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12m to do Next Friday but he turned us down for religious reasons,” he posted. “He didn’t want to cuss or smoke weed on camera anymore.”
It’s definitely commendable and respectable the reasons Tucker didn’t participate in the sequels, but one can only wonder… what if? In the meantime, take a look at some of the best scenes from the original movie.
Until the next time it drips…
