GUNNA BEATS OUT THE WEEKND FOR NO. 1 SPOT ON BILLBOARD TOP 200

Gunna really did it. The Atlanta star has edged out The Weeknd for the top spot on the U.S. Billboard 200.

In a tale of two surprise projects, ‘Wunna’ came out on top. In a battle between some fire cover art, retail discounts and “deluxe” versions, the Atlanta native’s album DS4Ever barely snuck by. Gunna’s EP sold 150,300 units in it’s opening week, while Abel’s Dawn FM moved 148,000, according to MRC Data.

The victory comes as a massive surprise to everybody, really. Despite being such an established and major artist, very few people can top the Toronto crooner. His last project, After Hours, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 444,000 album-equivalent units, which also included a massive 275,000 pure album sales.

The soundtrack to Disney’s Encanto, which topped the chart last week, has fallen to the third spot on the chart while Adele’s 30 is the No. 4 album. Congrats to Gunna and all of his ‘slimes’ out there!

Until the next time it drips…
