J. Cole artist Ari Lennox is fed up. The singer has revealed she wants out of her contract with the North Carolina native’s Dreamville and Interscope Records.
Taking to Twitter this weekend, the 30-year-old made it clear she wants to be “free” from her deal. Originally, she signed with Cole’s label back in 2015, later dropping her 2019 debut album Shea Butter Baby under the label as well.
Ari tweeted, “I want to be dropped from the labels. I’m done and tired.” The musician also hit back at a fan, saying… “Shut up! The interview was the icing on the cake. I want to be free.”
That was apparently a reference to her recent appearance on Podcast and Chill. The host on the show asked her, “Is someone f**king you good right now?” It was a move that took the “Pressure” singer completely off guard, as she was definitely offended.
She also tweeted (and then deleted)…
“And I’m never doing another interview again. I been on this sober high for weeks. Genuine gratefulness and happiness. But then… men. Every time… never fails.”
It’s clear she wasn’t too happy with that question, and also just isn’t happy with the music business in general. We’ll see where it all goes for Ari from here.
Until the next time it drips…
