LeBron James is “this” close to history. The basketball great is encroaching on an all-time NBA accomplishment.
After scoring 33 on Tuesday in a Lakers win over the Nets, James sits with 44,045 points scored in his illustrious 19-year-old career. He is now just 104 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points of all-time.
Kareem has a record 44,149 points. Note that these figures include both the regular season and playoffs. Although the official records on the NBA’s end don’t include the playoffs, this is still no small feat.
The 31-year-old James is zeroing in on that hallmark as well, now needing less than 2,000 regular season points for the all-time record. He’s having one of the best years of his career at this age, which is making a lot of people wonder if ‘Bron’ will truly ever slow down.
