Snoop Dogg wants to be the first. He’s revealed just what he wants to do with his newly-acquired Death Row Records.
He surprised fans in a Clubhouse conversation this week when he revealed his plans for Death Row to become the first NFT record label. Snoop touts, “It will be an NFT label. We will be putting out artists through the metaverse.”
He also spoke on the origins of the label being the first major independent label, saying…
“Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent [label] to be major, I want to be the first major [label] in the metaverse.”
Last week, the Long Beach native and rap icon acquired the brand from MNRK Music Group, who purchased the rights for the company from Hasbro in 2019 for a whopping $4 billion.
This is interesting news, to say the least, as the NFT label will be the first of its kind. For now, however, it’s still yet to be determined if the 50-year-old can carry out his metaverse dreams.
