Ja Rule is naming his greats. The Hip-Hop veteran has come forward with his rap Mount Rushmore.
He recently sat down with The Breakfast Club and discussed his career and the big business moves he’s made in recent years. As they’ve done with many other rappers, Ja Rule was asked about who he would place on his Mount Rushmore for the genre.
Ja quickly named three: Jay-Z, Tupac Shakur, and The Notorious B.I.G., all amazing picks. The fourth was a little bit more difficult to figure out, but he took things back to an earlier era of Hip-Hop. Ja broke it down…
“Either Big Daddy Kane, or Rakim, or [KRS One] because of what they did for the culture and what they meant to the culture. And what Rakim was to a Nas, you know what I’m saying? What KRS was to a whole generation of rappers.” He continued… “We never put the ladies in there… MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa. They’re the reason other women picked up a microphone, period. How can you leave them off? You gotta [pick] one of them and put them on there.”
While he might get clowned a lot for his previous actions and controversies, Ja Rule knows a thing or two about rap. Hate him or love him, the New York native has left his imprint on the genre for years to come.
