Young Thug will remain in jail for now. As he waits behind bars, a low-key infuriating detail has been released about the trial.
ABC News has found that several Young Thug songs and their lyrics are being used in the case against him. The songs in question were published between 2016 to 2021.
The tracks include “Anybody,” “Take it to Trial,” popular hit “Ski” featuring Gunna, and “Slatty.”
The prosecution is defending their courtroom use of the lyrics, as they believe Thug’s words are evidence. They say the lyrics are “preserving, protecting and enhancing the reputation, power, and territory of the enterprise [YSL].”
One lyric that was heavily cited in the indictment is the ATL star’s “Slatty” verse, when he raps… “I killed his man in front of his momma, like f**k lil’ bruh, sister and his cousin/I shoot out/Kill ’em, not leaving a trace.”
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has also stated she believes YSL’s actions are directly responsible for “in excess of 50 murders” due to gun violence since 2015. Young Thug’s attorneys are set to make their arguments for bond in court on June 2 – stay tuned.
