PHARRELL EXPLAINS WHAT MAKES KENDRICK LAMAR SUCH A GREAT SONGWRITER

Pharrell Williams is doing some analyzing. In a new interview, the multi-platinum producer has opened up about what makes Kendrick Lamar such a great songwriter.

Pharrell got a first-hand look at the type of intensity ‘K.Dot’ manifests during the creation of his fourth-consecutive chart-topping album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Recently, the Virginia native pulled up for an exclusive interview with Zane Lowe for his Apple Music One show and opened up about the experience he had working with Kendrick and Tanna Leone while producing standout album cut, “Mr. Morale.”

He let it be known that the pgLang lyricist’s pen is unmatched during the creative process. Pharrell began by saying…

“Kendrick is one of the greatest writers of our times, and he is a great writer because he knows how to be very disciplined with a subject matter.”

Pharrell continued…

“He knows that stickiness is important, and he knows that it has to feel great. So when we were making ‘Mr. Morale,’ I watched the rhythms hit him and I watched it just bubble to the surface, whatever the song was making him feel, and I watched him commit to that, and I watched him stay disciplined.”

He’s definitely not wrong, as Kendrick Lamar is undoubtably one of the best rappers and songwriters ever. You can take it from a music great like Pharrell.
