Lil Tjay was shot. New reports reveal the Hip-Hop artist is undergoing emergency surgery after being shot in Edgewater, New Jersey, early Wednesday morning.
As details are still emerging, TMZ reports that there were two shootings in the area, one at a Chipotle Restaurant while the other was at a nearby Exxon Gas station. At the Chipotle site, a victim was shot several times while the victim at the Exxon was struck once.
The identity of the second victim is currently unknown. Police are still looking for suspects as of right now, and no motive has been determined yet.
At just 21 years old, the New York-bred artist is making waves through the industry. In 2021, Tjay dropped his second studio album, Destined 2 Win, which features his highest-charting song to date, “Calling My Phone.” The track is a collaboration with 6lack, which reached as high as No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
