Eminem is speaking up. The Detroit rap icon has given his thoughts on the Supreme Court’s latest controversial decision.
The United States Supreme Court voted to overturn the 1973 bill Roe v. Wade last Friday, leaving it up to each states to decide whether or not to ban abortions. Protests erupted across the country this weekend, with many people upset the government is attempting to control womens’ bodies, and Eminem is one of them.
Eminem let his thoughts be known in a tweet clearly revealing where he stands on the issue, while he simultaneously provided a resource for his home-state community of Michigan.
Slim Shady wrote…
“As a father it pisses me off that women have fewer rights 2day than just a few days ago. We r f**kin goin bckwards. Here’s how to help in Michigan.”
The post included a link to an organization called Reproductive Freedom For All. The organization will try to help women get the healthcare they need, amidst the red-state/blue-state chaos the Supreme Court decision has caused.
Indeed, the U.S. seems to be in uncharted territory, in wake of the new ruling. Most legal scholars agree, this is the first time in American history that a right has been taken away from the populous, rather than bestowed.
