The Weeknd has something dope coming. The star has dropped the first trailer for his upcoming HBO series, The Idol.
The Toronto crooner shared a 93-second teaser on social media this past weekend. It gave fans an explosive, X-rated glimpse at what is described as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.”
The XO hitmaker tweeted alongside the trailer…
“DO YOU TRUST ME?! From the sick and twisted minds of Sam Levinson and @TheWeeknd, starring Lily-Rose Depp, #THEIDOL is coming soon to @hbomax.”
Created by The Weeknd and Sam Levinson (Euphoria), The Idol follows a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader, played by the singer. He enters into a complicated relationship with a rising pop star (Lily-Rose Depp).
The cast also includes Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, and Rachel Sennott, as well as Saved by the Bell star Elizabeth Berkley. Others include Power Book II: Ghost actress Melanie Liburd and the multi award-winning Anne Heche, who both have recurring rolls.
A release date for The Idol has yet to be publicly announced, so stay tuned.
