JAY-Z CHARGED JOE BUDDEN $250,000 FOR 2003 FEATURE

Was JAY-Z capping? Joe Budden is speaking up after comments ‘Hov’ made about never charging anybody for a feature, ever.

Budden claims Hov charged him $250,000 for the verse he spit for the remix of 2003 hit, “Pump It Up.” While he says the unusually large fee was unrelated to any personal issues between the two rap stars, the comments come just days after Jay told Kevin Hart that he’s not once charged for a feature.

“I don’t think that was a big number, I think that was his number,” the New York native explained on a recent episode of the FlipDaScript podcast. Budden continued, “‘That’s my number to rap on this new artist’s remix.’ It was just big in my world, but it wasn’t a big number.”

Budden noted he didn’t know any better at the time. He admited he wasn’t even in the room when the deal was made between JAY-Z and his A&R rep, Skane.

Since he wasn’t privy to negotiations, who really knows what the “Big Pimpin'” superstar’s prospective may have been. The now successful Podcaster and Reality star said he was just happy JAY-Z even agreed to do the song at all.

Regardless of why JAY-Z charged him so much, we got some fire. Revisit the song below.

Until the next time it drips…
