JIM JONES EXPLAINS WHY DMX’S PERFORMANCES WERE SO SPECIAL

Jim Jones is paying tribute to DMX. He’s opened up about why the late artist’s performances were so special.

Speaking to HipHopDX, alongside his Lobby Boyz companion Maino, Jimmy took a trip down memory lane and remembered some of the moments he’s spent with X, as well as the Ruff Ryder crew.

“Sh*t, I got hella Ruff Ryder memories. We kind of started with Dee [aka Darrin Dean]. Dee was managing Ma$e, but before Ma$e even got a deal. And then I remember being on tour with DMX when we first went out on tour with [Cam’ron], and watching DMX perform was so crazy because he would come out and do 60, 90 minutes set.”

“I’m talking about going absolutely cray, praying, crying, going wild, ‘My N-gga’… Everything. You heard? And afterwards he’d get on stage and collapse about to have asthma attack. Every night it would happen. And he had crazy asthma.”

Jimmy said no one knew he had a breathing problem at all, never flinching with his onstage performances. He gave DMX lots of credit for paving the way for rappers like himself.

Rest in peace, DMX! His legacy of powerful performances and great lyrics will never be forgotten.
