Will Smith is opening up about Floyd Mayweather‘s support following his controversial Oscars slap earlier this year.
In a clip shared per TMZ, the Hollywood star can be seen telling a room of people about how his friendship developed with the boxing icon, as Floyd listened on nodding. According to Will Smith, the two had only known each other casually prior to the 2022 Oscars .
But as he faced backlash for slapping Chris Rock, over what he thought was an innapropriate joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Floyd reached out to Will personally. The 54-year-old recounted….
“For 10 days, he called me every day. And he was like, ‘Ay! You know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.’ Every day, he called me. And it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”
Looks like a wonderful friendship has developed between the two men. You gotta call Floyd Mayweather a “real one” for that.
