This past Friday, Nike revealed it was severing ties with the Brooklyn Nets star in light of his controversial tweet promoting a book and movie full of anti-Semitic rhetoric. The sportswear giant’s suspension took effect immediately, with Nike cancelling the upcoming release of the Kyrie 8 sneaker, previously due to drop on November 8.
The company issued a statement:
“At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism. We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.”
