The three men who were accused of stalking, robbing, and then killing Florida rap star XXXTENTACION, are all now convicted murderers.
The Associated Press(AP) reports, the Broward County jury handed down guilty verdicts on Monday to defendants Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24.
The jury deliberated for eight days but found them guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Judge Michael Usan set their sentencing date as April 6th. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, they will all receive life in prison.
You may remember, there were originally four defendants, but Robert Allen plead guilty to a lesser charge and turned state’s evidence against his former associates. He maintained that he tried to convince the other assailants to call it off before they struck – albeit at the very last moment.
On the stand, Allen told a sordid tale of how the four of them split the $50k they made off with after shooting XXXTENTACION in cold blood and with no provocation.
The murder took place on June 18th, 2018 outside of Riva Motorsports in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The men made their move on ‘XXX’ as he exited the business, and the killing was captured on security surveillance video in broad daylight.
These convictions all but close the journey for justice in the case for the “SAD!” author. We’ll be paying close attention and bringing you updates in this final sentencing phase.
Until the next time it drips…
