Super producer and singer Tory Lanez lost his bid for a new trial in the Megan Thee Stallion case. The once untouchable music industry genius continues his dramatic, slow motion fall from grace.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that Judge David Herriford ruled against Lanez, officially severing all hope the “Say it” artist will be free from prison anytime soon.
Lanez’s attorneys made a last ditch effort to have the judge removed from the case before he made his ruling, but Judge Herriford was unswayed.
The approach that Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, 30 years old, took with the judge on Tuesday was a far cry from the desperate pleas the singer offered for mercy just one day before on Monday, May 8th when he asked the judge not to “ruin” his life. Lanez then asserted to Herriford…
“I could be your son, I could be your brother.”
Los Angeles Times reporter Meghanm Cuniff reported Tory Lanez is looking at a minimum of nine years in prison at this point. Deputy DA Alex Bott had this to say about Tory Lanez’s possible sentence…
“I think any time you point a gun at someone and pull the trigger five times, that’s an action that could easily kill a person, and I think that’s an action that should have serious consequences.”
After the hearing, Lanez’s attorney Mathew Barhoma was prompted by reporters to make a statement about the judge’s fairness and demeanor. Barhoma responded by saying… “Well listen, I’m glad you guys saw it.”
He then offered this message about his client, Tory Lanez:
“What I do know is that my guy is a fighter and this is only the beginning.”
Back at Lanez’s April court date, Judge Herriford said he would sentence him 30 days after he ruled on whether there would be a new trial. Now that Lanez has lost in court again, the platinum-selling artist’s fate is soon to be sealed.
