Rapper Tory Lanez has responded to the bombshell charges against him coming from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. The “I Told You” singer had this to say over social media…
“Time(emoji) will tell(emoji) … and the truth will come to the light … I have all faith in God to show that …. love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart … a charge is not a conviction. If you have supported me or meg thru this, I genuinely appreciate u.”
The statement, with a strikingly sober tone from Tory Lanez, is a huge shift from the rapper’s public demeanor since dropping his album DAYSTAR a few weeks ago. As the pressure mounts, it’s going to be interesting to see how Tory Lanez and his lawyers handle the criminal phase of his ordeal.
TMZ reported he’s charged with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. There’s also the kicker of “inflicted great bodily injury” … Tory Lanez could possibly face a 22-year and 8-month sentence.
It’s worth noting the Canadian superstar is truly all alone on this one as well. Just before the night of the shooting, Tory had just celebrated completing his record deal with Interscope Records and lauded the virtues of his future being an independent artist – so that’s what he is now. There won’t be a big record company with deep pockets coming to the rescue for the embattled superstar.
