Rapper Ace Hood had a moment with his family that’s fast becoming one of the most touching viral moments this Christmas. On camera, his wife, entrepreneur and meditation expert, Shelah Marie, gifted Ace two custom made plaques. The discs were in recognition of the streaming success of his 2017 independent album, Trust The Process. The album was streamed 100,000,000 times. The follow up to it, Trust The Process: Undefeated (2018) has also scored an impressive 78,000,000 streams to date.

“I love you. You deserve it. I know when you went independent you stopped getting plaques, and I just thought it was important that you have plaques for your independent projects. So you know that you don’t need anybody else to give you awards, period.”
The “Bugatti” rhymer, known for being a tough guy with a chiseled physique, unwrapped his gift as he wiped back his tears and listened carefully to the words of his wife. The moment has sent virtual chills through the internet and social media, with fans and followers praising Shelah Marie for her thoughtful offering to her artist husband, now working from outside the music industry loop.
Ace Hood went independent back in 2016, breaking from DJ Khaled’s We The Best Music Group, one of the most successful labels in Hip Hop. And yes it’s true, the plaques did stop coming without the backing of a powerful record label. It’s a natural tradeoff artists have to make these days if they want to gain more power and control over their own careers – it’s a hard road. Ace Hood now has his own record label called Hood Nation.
Shelah Marie just acknowledged through a social media post, all the love the couple has been getting since her post went up on Christmas day. She says the phones have been ringing off the hook. She writes, “It’s almost like the initial action which came from a genuine place attracted that same energy on the outside. Wow!”
