It has been a rough few weeks for the Las Vegas Raiders. Just a month ago, now-former head coach Jon Gruden stepped down after resurfaced racist and homophobic emails circulated around the Internet.
Then, the Raiders cut wide receiver Henry Ruggs III after he was charged with driving under the influence during an incident that resulted in a fatal crash that took the life of a 23-year-old woman and her dog. Now, things have once again gotten wild and another member of the team has been cut.
First-round draft pick Damon Arnette has been released from the team after a video went viral showing him brandishing a firearm while spewing outwardly violent threats. While it’s unclear if he was talking to somebody specifically, Arnette says “I swear to God I will kill you, n****. On everything I love, I will kill you, n****. You talking crazy.”
Raider’s General Manager Mike Mayock called it a “very painful situation. We spent significant time, effort and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life… We cannot stand for the video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life.”
Just months ago, Arnette was also involved in several lawsuits per a hit and run incident.
